1. The subject of this picture is a man on a horse.
2. I say the time period of this pciture would be somewhere in the 1850's or 60's because of the man's clothing. The man riding a horse along the beach is also an example of the time period because well, that's when people usually rode horses everywhere.
3. I think the artist made the picutre more abstract because you can't really see the man's face and everything kind of blends into each other.
4. The background takes on more of a dominat role becuase if you were to change the background it would maybe have a totally different meaning as to what the author might be trying to express.
5. The colors definatly help create the mood. The diferent shades of blue may mean the person might have alot of things on his mind and he doesn't know how to handle it. Therefore, he might be trying to get his stuff straightend out by getting away from everything and taking it one step at a time.
